A Christmas Message from the President

Hello to All,

Well, 2013 has certainly been an eventful year at BCCTC!

Let’s reflect for just a moment:

· BCCTC celebrates its first 50 years.
· Replacement and additional Committee members.
· Club lease negotiations.
· New coach.
· Clubhouse improvements (new roof).
· Friday night Junior Comp.
· Club Championships.

News:

Long serving committee member Roger Hargreaves has decided to resign his position as Club Secretary at the end of this year. The Club is extremely thankful and forever indebted to Roger for his outstanding contribution at the Club. The role of Club Secretary is incredibly time consuming and Roger has applied an above-and-beyond the call of duty approach to this role. From me personally, your support Roger in what has been a real baptism-of-fire in a tough first up 6 months in my tenure as Club President has been hugely appreciated. We look forward to seeing Roger enjoy the Club without responsibilities– Well done Roger and thank you on behalf of the Committee and Members of BCCTC.

Welcome to new Committee members:

Aaron Hamsted as Junior Representative. His contribution and support to Andre at the Friday night Junior Comp has already been invaluable and with six new junior teams (for a total of ten), we hope that he will be kept very busy. I take this opportunity to also thank those parents who have helped out on Fridays. Events such as these are unsustainable without this sort of support and your participation is much appreciated.

Michelle Weckmann as Club Secretary. Many thanks to her for committing to a second tour on the committee in this very demanding role.

Special thanks:

From me and on behalf of the Club Members I’d like to thank the Committee for their hard work over the year – particularly in the challenging second half.

There has been a very big change in committee personnel and it is with great pride that I can state that we are all unified and focused on the task, albeit one small step at a time, in creating an even better club.

Thanks again also to those whom have moved on and well done and congratulations to all who brought together the very successful “50 Years” event.

Welcome to all new Club members. We are thrilled to have you at the Club and it is with your support that we move forward in the rejuvenation phase at BCCTC.

Club Coach, Andre Mewett has made an incredible difference at the Club in a very short period of time. We now have around 25 new junior members and a handful of new adult and family memberships. Andre’s commitment to build a vibrant Club is clear and obvious and as you will have witnessed, his energy is second-to-none.

Well done Andre on putting together our first Club Championships in 9 years – and on very short notice it must be said!

On behalf of the Committee and all Club Members, thank you Andre for your fine efforts to date – We hope to see you around for many years to come!

A special thanks to Jolene Mewett for her support and assistance over all three days of the Club Championships.

Thanks to all who participated in the Club Championships and congratulations to those individuals and teams that enjoyed some success.

Again thanks to those who rolled up their sleeves and helped out on BBQ, kitchen and cleaning duties.
Watch the website in the New Year for results and photos of the event.

In parting:

Merry Christmas to you all.

Remember to tell those whom you are closest to that you love them and to be thankful for all that you have. Importantly , please be particularly safe over the new Year period.

See you on the court 2014,

Kind regards,
Colin Hunter
BCCTC Club President
